Horizon Receipt Printer/Manual Printer Install
From MVLC Staff
Due to significant differences in appearance from XP through Windows 7 we have, at this time, opted to NOT include screenshots at this time. If you need additional help you can contact central site.
Step 1: Run the Horizon Receipt Printer software
Step 2: As an administrator, open the "Add Printer" dialog. You may need to right-click and select "Run as Administrator" on Vista and Windows 7 with an "Add Printer" option under it.
This is usually accessible from the Printers control panel, or from a Printers and Devices (or Devices and Printers) control panel in Windows 7.
Step 3: Add a local printer, not a network or internet printing printer
Step 4: If "\\.\pipe\HZReceipt" is in the "Use an existing port:" dropdown, select it and skip to step 6. Otherwise, Create a new "Local Port".
Step 5: Enter "\\.\pipe\HZReceipt" into the "Enter a port name:" dialog and hit OK. NOTE: THIS IS CASE SENSITIVE. If you get an error that the port is invalid or that a file cannot be found you will need to start the Horizon Receipt Printer software. If you get an access denied error then you will need to go back to step 2 and ensure you have administrator rights.
Step 6: Select the "Generic" manufacturer and the "Generic / Text Only" Printer, hit next.
Step 7: Continue on, using the pre-installed driver (if asked), until you are asked for the printer name.
Step 8: Enter "Horizon Receipt Printer" for the printer name, and ensure that the "Set as the default printer" box is NOT checked.
Step 9: Continue on to the end. If asked, do not share the printer, and do not print a test page.
